Provenance

Originally bought by DWB 5.3.96 and sold to BCT 31.8.10 The sitter was Peter Hughes and his head was later used for one of the four door handles for the Convent of the Holy Child Jesus in Cavendish Square in 1952. Jacob Epstein Sculptor by R Buckle, London 1963, p.318, pls.448-489 (another cast illustrated) The Sculpture of Epstein by E. Silber, Oxford 1986, no.401 (another cast illustrated)
