The woman on the left with a brightly coloured bag over her arm is Gertrude, Harvey's wife - probably one of her own. She designed and made her own bags, she was also a dressmaker. An article of 9th February 1939 from an unidentified source, mentions the colourful clothes worn by figures in Harvey's paintings and recorded that: 'if the garment is especially attractive, you may be sure that it has been made by Mrs Harvey herself.
