Provenance
Birch moved to Boleigh Farm in 1892, his first permanent residence in Cornwall, where he lodged with the farmer Henry Tippett and his wife Emmeline. A dairy farm mainly on the west side of the Lamorna Valley. Birch liked the independence from the Newlyn community that he got there.
